Hiraodai Karst in Kitakyushu: Gentle on Beginners

You might recall hearing the term "karst" in geography class back in the day. It refers to this kind of rugged, rock-covered terrain. Hiraodai in Fukuoka is apparently one of Japan's premier karst plateaus. While I wasn't specifically targeting karst formations, this place felt absolutely amazing. Even beginners can reach the summit of Hiraodai in about an hour (just be careful not to climb too far, as the mountains stretch on forever). I wouldn't really recommend going from Kokura Station by electric bicycle.
