Sawara (now Katori City) in Chiba Prefecture, home to the former residence of Inō Tadataka, is one of the Three Little Edos. While the other two are Kawagoe City in Saitama Prefecture and Tochigi City in Tochigi Prefecture, Sawara tends to be overshadowed. However, its townscape of storehouses and the Tamba River with small boats drifting along its banks offer a historical charm, making it a perfectly balanced spot for a leisurely visit. Moreover, the Sawara area is quite compact, making a half-day visit just the right amount of time.
