When you think of the ocean in the Kanto region, places like Shonan, Chiba, and Izu usually come to mind first, but of course, there is also the ocean within Tokyo itself. Since there are no waves, it doesn’t really conjure up images of non-motorized water sports like surfing, and the idea of sandy beaches in Tokyo Bay might not immediately resonate with many people—but in reality, there are actually several sandy beaches. One of them is Omori Furusato Beach Park in Ota Ward. It’s less than a 20-minute walk from Heiwajima Station on the Keikyu Line. The facilities are well-maintained, and with its lawns, tennis courts, and sports fields, it’s a very clean and pleasant place. Lifeguards are on duty at all times, making it an ideal, convenient beach park for families and children to play.
