Zama Shrine is located about a 5-minute walk from Sobudai-shita Station on the JR Sagami Line in Zama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was my first time visiting, and I really enjoyed it. The main hall stands surrounded by trees on a hill, and the compact grounds were filled with a warm yet sacred atmosphere. Since it was May, colorful carp streamers were adorably fluttering everywhere. It seems Zama Shrine puts a lot of thought into seasonal decorations. Although I had never heard of this shrine before, I felt it was a place well worth the trip, even if it meant traveling a bit out of my way.
