I came across this izakaya near Akita Station while searching for a place with a local vibe. I looked up what "mokkiri" meant and found it's a way of drinking sake where it's poured until it overflows from the masu cup. True to its name, they apparently stock nearly every type of Akita sake, and several local sake enthusiasts were there. The food menu features many Akita delicacies and sake-friendly snacks, all delicious. Note that hearty, filling dishes are scarce. Run by a couple, the quieter husband and playful wife were charming. When I neatly finished the garnish on my sashimi, the wife playfully smiled and said, "Oh my, you ate it so neatly. That makes me so happy!"
