My first visit to Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. I knew it was a coastal city, of course, but exploring it revealed charm overflowing from every corner. Since midsummer is too hot, I rented an electric bicycle near the station and explored the surrounding area. Every spot is within about a 10-minute bike ride from the station, yet just a short stroll reveals one picturesque scene after another. Bring a simple fishing rod, and you can fish almost anywhere. I brought mine too, actually. While some pretty big bluefish came chasing after the bait, snapping up swarms of small fish, I couldn't get them to bite with my artificial lure... I'd love to tackle this properly with full gear! That said, it's such a luxurious situation.
