Sasebo, you're something else. The owner of Bronxburg, the best Sasebo burger joint, recommended the ultimate izakaya, Sasaizumi. Live squid and horse mackerel served fresh. The pure joy of savoring truly delicious seafood while feeling the gift of life firsthand. After enjoying the sliced squid, the remaining parts are prepared as tempura, sashimi, or grilled. The tempura was insanely good. I thought I'd get the premium rock lemon sour, but it was the regular one—and even that was ridiculously delicious lol. Since I was alone before 9 PM on a weekday, I walked right in, but it seems reservations are essential for groups arriving a bit earlier. It's a century-old, affordable pub. Personally, it might be the best izakaya I've ever had.
