Hisatomi Inari Shrine in Shinmachi, Setagaya. I visited for the first time at night. I had visited during the day long ago, but the nighttime atmosphere was completely different. The early-blooming cherry blossoms were about 80% in bloom, creating a truly wonderful atmosphere. Owl shrines and owl paintings adorn several spots. Apparently, owls took up residence in the ancient trees within the grounds around the mid-Showa period, and from there, the shrine began venerating owls as a symbol of good fortune. Though compact, it has history and many visitors, giving a sense that it is cherished by the local community. It's a shrine where you can feel a pleasant sense of peace and tranquility.
