Even the Cat God takes a nap! Tennoji, Yanaka's Healing Temple

Founded in 1274, Tennoji Temple once thrived so much it was called one of Edo's "Three Riches." Yet it suffered the misfortune of two fires that destroyed everything except the main hall. Still, the temple's atmosphere is wonderful, and it's incredibly relaxing. Within the grounds, time seems to flow so leisurely you might forget you're in the city. And perhaps I was lucky, because I even encountered the Cat God. Only the Cat God could possibly nap so soundly in the prime spot of the main hall.
