I was craving delicious, authentic dango, so I did a little research and found information about a shop called Habutae Dango near JR Nippori Station. Established in 1819, it's a historic dango shop that even appears in novels by Natsume Sōseki and Masaoka Shiki as "Imogahara Dango." Thinking it might be crowded around noon, I visited just before 10 AM on a Sunday. There were seats available, and I was able to enter immediately. I ordered the set with soy sauce, smooth red bean paste, and sencha green tea. First, I tried the smooth red bean paste. The mochi was small, the sweetness restrained, and the delicate paste had a satisfying texture and smooth mouthfeel – delicious! Next, the soy sauce mochi. The mochi was larger, with a firm bite. The saltiness of the soy sauce combined with the mochi's texture made it very satisfying and delicious! Wow, delicious!
