Compact World Heritage Site: Suganuma Gassho-style Village

The Suganuma Gassho-zukuri Village, registered as a World Heritage Site alongside Shirakawa-go. While considerably more compact than Shirakawa-go, this very compactness makes it an area where you can feel a greater sense of authenticity. For those wishing to strongly experience the warmth and simplicity of a gassho-zukuri village, Suganuma is the recommended choice. That said, the distance between the two villages isn't great, so visiting both is highly recommended.
