Even in regional areas, many major cities have become quite Tokyo-like, and when traveling from afar, visiting such areas can be less enjoyable. While Hakodate has places that feel like a big city like Tokyo, I found the night view of Suehirocho to be one spot where, despite being urban, you can experience something uniquely Hakodate. It's a magnificent harbor town view unlike Yokohama's Minato Mirai or Kobe's waterfront—truly Hakodate! Truly one of the world's three great night views! Its immense charm is undeniable. I completely understand why so many tourists feel compelled to visit here regularly.
