Yokohama, in Kanagawa Prefecture, holds many hidden charms. While it’s strongly associated with being a port city—and the areas around Yokohama Station and Minato Mirai have a distinctly metropolitan feel—if you venture a little further inland, you’ll find plenty of greenery and a pleasant, rural atmosphere. I visited Shiki no Mori Park, a large park, for the first time recently. The cherry blossoms were nearly in full bloom and well worth seeing. Other plants and flowers were also in full bloom, and I took a leisurely one-hour or two-hour walk around the park, which was good exercise. However, during cherry blossom season, the parking lot is always full on weekends, and there is significant traffic congestion before you can enter the park by car, so please be aware of this.
