Hakodate Hachimangu Shrine, often overlooked on the Hakodate Mountain walking course. Founded in 1445, it's a historic shrine. The characters "Shin'i" (Divine Might) on the large torii gate radiate a strength that feels quintessentially Hokkaido, and the view of the cityscape from the top of the stone steps is lovely. It's a well-maintained shrine, beautifully preserved yet surprisingly quiet with few tourists—a real hidden gem and a luxurious experience.
