Get off at Shimabara Funatsu Station on the Shimabara Railway. The station name font has such a charming feel. I've seen plenty of towns wrapped in sea breezes, but here too, you really feel how well it gets along with the ocean. However, hit by population decline and the scorching heat, there are hardly any people out and about. Especially in rural areas and small towns, almost no one moves around during the height of summer daytime except by car.
