The Shimabara Railway, a local line in Nagasaki running from Isahaya to Shimabara Port. I hopped on without any prior knowledge, and first off, the trains are adorable. The tracks basically run along the coast, and since they truly run right beside the sea, you can enjoy quite dynamic scenery. Especially at Ōsan'tō Station, which is touted as Japan's closest station to the sea, it offered a magnificent view. On the other hand, the windows on the opposite side offer distant views of the Unzen Mountains, creating another magnificent panorama. It was a truly luxurious local train ride.
