The moment you step onto the grounds of Keigenji Temple, founded in 1186, you'll be struck by such breathtaking scenery that you'll forget you're in Tokyo. The main hall, completed in 1716 after a fire in the early 1700s, is said to be the oldest temple structure in Setagaya Ward. The imposing cedar avenue leading to this main hall offers an experience rarely found elsewhere. The grounds also feature many striking structures, such as the three-storied pagoda in the cemetery area and a statue of the temple's founder, Edo Shigenaga. This is a rare temple within Tokyo where you can truly immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere. Incidentally, the parking lot location for the fictional temple "Kナ溝nji" featured in the Netflix drama "The Ground Deals" was filmed here at Keigenji.
