Higashi Chaya District is one of the must-visit spots in Kanazawa. Although it was a full-on "Rainy Kanazawa" day, it was a quiet area with a reserved, elegant beauty distinct from Kyoto or Kamakura. Experiencing this difference was valuable. The area wasn't as large as I'd imagined, but the streets themselves and the many shops that make use of their old charm were pleasant, allowing me to thoroughly enjoy about two hours there. However, eating while walking is prohibited in the teahouse district, and there are hardly any shops besides cafes and teahouses, so it might be better to have a proper meal outside Higashi Chaya District.
