I visited Mizumoto Park in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo for the first time. My main goal was to see the spot known as the Metasequoia Forest, where 1,500 metasequoia trees stand in a row. It was truly spectacular. Since I visited in early November, the metasequoia leaves were still yellow, not red yet. However, the sheer number, size, and beauty of the trees, along with their distinctly different shape and form compared to the trees I usually see, made me feel a bit disoriented, as if I'd lost track of where I was. In areas where sunlight was blocked, the resulting dimness seemed to heighten the Nordic-like atmosphere. I imagine the leaves turn red from late November to early December, so while the yellow was beautiful, I definitely want to see the red Metasequoias too.
