Wanting to eat delicious tonkatsu, I visited Tonkatsu Edo-ya, located about a 5-minute walk from Keio Line Sasazuka Station. First, I was surprised by the simple, old-fashioned storefront—so unassuming you'd likely walk right past it if you weren't paying attention. Honestly, if you didn't know beforehand that it's a well-known, long-established shop, I doubt many people would go inside. I sat in the tatami room and ordered the loin cutlet set meal and the shiso-wrapped fillet cutlet set meal. Wow, it was delicious. The balance between the texture of the meat and the batter was perfect. Both meals cost over 1,500 yen, so I'm sure there are many cheaper places to eat, but I felt it was worth making a special trip to this restaurant.
