About a 10-minute walk from Tsuwano Station lies Taikodani Inari Shrine, counted among Japan's five major Inari shrines. Its approximately 1,000 red torii gates are incredibly striking. The sheer number of gates stretching upward might intimidate some, but the approach path is easy to walk, and you can reach the top in about 10 minutes, so it's not that difficult (though this may vary by individual). The view overlooking Tsuwano town from the top was spectacular. At night, all the torii gates are illuminated, creating an incredibly beautiful scene. I had been curious about how it would look at night, and visiting was absolutely the right decision.
