Shin-Okubo's Best-Tasting Jajamen Restaurant

Just one street back from JR Shin-Okubo's main thoroughfare lined with Korean restaurants lies the somewhat hidden gem? "Niku & Men Higashi-Shinjuku". I visited for the first time to savor what's said to be Shin-Okubo's best jjajangmyeon. Arriving just before noon on a weekday, I slipped right in and ordered two servings of jjajangmyeon and the sweet and sour pork (tansuyuk) lunch set. I was a bit intimidated because the jajangmyeon I had at another place before was ridiculously huge, but this place didn't serve such an out-of-this-world portion, which was a relief. The thickness of the noodles, the sauce clinging to them perfectly, the just-right seasoning with a subtly sweet flavor – it was definitely delicious. The freshly fried, crispy and juicy Tangsuyuk was also outstandingly tasty. I was completely full.
