Nagahama in Shiga Prefecture, a station on the JR Hokuriku Main Line. It's one of the towns facing Japan's largest lake, Lake Biwa. It was advertised as a tourist spot, but it pleasantly surprised me. I think this is the kind of place seasoned travelers would appreciate. What amazed me most was the water quality in the canals and rivers flowing everywhere throughout the town. I was so impressed I took tons of photos of the various waterways. Not only was the transparency of the narrow channels running alongside major roads insane, but I even spotted freshwater crabs...! I was thrilled to have discovered this hidden gem. It must be a blessing from Lake Biwa. A town with such clean water is truly wonderful.
