Maiko Park overlooking Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awaji Island
Stepping off JR Kobe Line's Maiko Station, the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge looms right before your eyes. Just as I was wondering if there was a spot to get a nice view of the bridge and Awaji Island, I found Hyogo Prefectural Maiko Park right next to the station. Beyond the beautifully manicured green lawns stretched the ideal view of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awaji Island. The memorial hall and other buildings within the park also had a nice charm, and the sea breeze, which cooled the slightly early May warmth compared to other years, felt absolutely wonderful. There were people strolling, people enjoying the twilight, and fishermen, but it wasn't crowded at all and was a very comfortable place to be.
