Although the forecast called for rain more than 90% of the time during my trip, thanks to my natural “sunny guy” charm, I barely got caught in the rain and was able to see the “Two Turtles” again that day. I’d heard that the two islands, “Oki-no-shima” and “Iso-no-shima,” look like a pair of turtles side by side, but I approached the islands skeptically, wondering, “From which angle do they actually look like that?” However, the closer I got, the more their dynamic beauty became apparent, and I quickly forgot all about the turtle analogy. It seems to be featured with two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, but whether it’s Michelin or not, I believe that what’s good is good, and what’s not is not. That said, Nitsukame was definitely worth the visit.
