In the northernmost part of Machida City, there is a hilly area where several valley fields stretch out in a row. Walking through these valley fields is sometimes referred to as the “Onoji Valley Tour.” Across the road lies the Oyamada Green Space, another incredibly pleasant spot, but this time, to experience the Valley Tour firsthand, I followed a beginner-friendly route starting from Narabai Valley, passing through Manshoji Valley, and crossing over a small mountain. Starting with the pristine scenery of the satoyama, the forest bath and trek through the forest, where sunlight filtered through the trees, was incredibly refreshing and provided a solid workout. I was genuinely surprised to discover that Machida City had such a hiking course that was perfectly suited to my level and felt pleasant from start to finish.
