The morning after staying in Kikonai, I had a little time to spare before my Shinkansen departure, so I walked down to a nearby sandy beach. I arrived at a spot called Misogi Beach, marked by a torii gate, and took a short stroll along the coast from there. The view of Tsugaru Bay from the Hokkaido side is lovely, too. The sea, the sandy beach, and the sky are all beautiful. I tried casting a few times with some saltwater worms from a nearby seawall, but didn’t get a single bite. I guess it’s tough without real bait (I ended up just disturbing the seagulls’ rest). Even though it was morning, and even though I was in Hokkaido, it’s already as hot as the height of summer these days. You really need to be careful when exercising under the blazing sun.
