Tsuwano boasts two impressive shrines. One is Taikodani Inari Shrine with its thousand torii gates, while the other is this Yae Shrine standing at its base, or rather just before it. This one has a longer history, having watched over Tsuwano from this spot for about 600 years since 1428 during the Muromachi period. Visiting it, you can truly sense how deeply cherished it is. Though the grounds are compact, the presence of each structure conveys a gentle yet powerful impression. The sacred giant zelkova tree is also incredibly imposing. Its coexistence with the background is exquisite, achieving a perfectly balanced composition that looks picture-perfect from any angle—truly surprising.
