Sayama Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Tama (Murayama Reservoir), an important reservoir supplying Tokyo residents with tap water. To the northwest of Lake Tama, almost adjacent, lies Lake Sayama (Yamaguchi Reservoir) in Saitama Prefecture. Both are artificial lakes created as reservoirs for Tokyo and are managed as a single unit. Sayama Park is rich in nature and retains its satoyama landscape, attracting many tourists especially in spring and autumn. Adjacent to Tama Lake, this view is one of the park's highlights. Personally, the water intake tower, with its delightfully cute design reminiscent of Moomin Valley, is iconic. On clear days, you can even see Mount Fuji. This time, I was able to glimpse Mount Fuji with its first light dusting of snow. Visiting here always leaves me feeling refreshed.
