The Koayu River, a Class 1 river, has its source in Kiyokawa Village, Aiko District, Kanagawa Prefecture. Although water quality doesn’t seem to have anything to do with a river’s classification, the Koayu River is incredibly clear. The mountainous areas are fantastic, but cycling along the river in the plains during the summer was also an incredibly refreshing experience. With refreshing greenery and wide-open skies always stretching out behind the Koayugawa River, along with country roads and even birds I’d never seen before, I was able to fully enjoy a landscape that never grew tiresome.
