I had never heard of it before, but when I stepped off the train at Hachioji-Minamino Station for the first time, my impression of Hachioji changed dramatically. To be honest, I’d never really had any reason to go to Hachioji before, so I’d hardly ever been there and didn’t have any particular impression of the place. However, as soon as I started strolling around Hachioji-Minamino and walking around the station area, I intuitively felt, “Isn’t this a great town area, on par with Kamakura?” With its beautifully maintained station surroundings and residential neighborhoods, the harmony between the river, forest, and mountains, and the shopping mall right in front of the station, I strongly felt that this was a place where one could live comfortably.
